We are hearing that negotiations on the appropriations bill, including riders like syringe exchange, are taking place at the highest levels. Syringe exchange may be in danger. If the federal (needle exchange) ban is on the table, it’s likely DC’s own ban is potentially on the table too .

This year public Syringe Access dollars make up about 40% of HIPS annual operating budget. HIV rates amongst Injection Drug Users have gone down since the ban was lifted in DC – We can’t afford to go back!
