Beginning July 2008,
with support from the DC Department of Health, HIPS launched DC’s first
night-time mobile exchange. Syringe Exchange services are now available
on the HIPS outreach van on Friday and Saturday nights, 11pm to 5
am. Call the HIPS Hotline on Friday and Saturday nights to hook
up with the Van. HIPS also has two fixed site locations, near
Transgender Health Empowerment’s offices on Fridays 7-8pm and at DCats
7pm the 2nd Sunday of every month. Call Jeff, HIPS Outreach Manager,
for more information about syringe exchange.
